Children's Ju Jutsu Classes
Give your child the gift of confidence, discipline, and self-defence skills that will last a lifetime. Our children's Ju Jutsu program builds strong bodies and minds in a fun, supportive environment.
Building Confidence and Character
Learning responsible, ethical and effective self-defence can transform your child's self-confidence and provide protection when you're not there. Many parents and schools have been delighted with the positive effects that training at Jan de Jong Martial Arts has had on their children.
More Than Just Self-Defence
Jan de Jong's Ju Jutsu doesn't teach children to use brute force or violence. Instead, we focus on building confidence, self-esteem and a sense of control through mind-body training. Our methods are self-defence oriented, not sport-focused, so there are never any "losers". Students learn cooperation and mutual benefit, developing compassion, restraint, patience, respect and courtesy.
Safe, Progressive Learning
One of the first things children learn is how to fall safely - a valuable life skill beyond martial arts. They train all techniques on both sides of the body, developing coordination, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and overall strength. This whole-body approach builds both physical and mental resilience.
The Right Response for Real Situations
Unlike striking-based arts (Karate, Tae Kwon Do) or throwing-based arts (Judo), Ju Jutsu provides children with a complete range of proportionate responses. This is especially important for situations like school bullying, where children need effective techniques that won't cause serious harm to others.
Proven Benefits for Boys and Girls
Research shows that martial arts training provides unique benefits for both boys and girls. Parents consistently report increased self-esteem, self-discipline, and assertiveness in their children. Girls often exceed expectations, gaining confidence and assertiveness, while boys typically show improved interpersonal skills and sensitivity.
